Chair's Report

At Therapy Focus, we have the great privilege of journeying with people with disability and their families, and increasingly, older people and their families.

The destination is typically an outcome that is important to the individual, and often, it is the road we travel together where great things happen – trusting relationships are formed, collaborative problem solving is required to deal with things that change unexpectedly and achievements along the way, no matter how small, are celebrated.

It takes a special kind of person to do this work, and our Annual Review is a perfect opportunity to reflect on the significance of the role each and every member of the Therapy Focus team plays in the journey of each customer and their family.

Increasingly, our customers and their families are helping us to shape our organisation at a system level as well, providing us with ideas and learnings based on their lived experiences. We are all richer for their valuable contribution.

In February 2024 we launched our 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, reaffirming our belief that every person’s journey should be extraordinary. The past 12 months have seen significant effort to better understand the challenges in our current service delivery model, develop strategies to improve our productivity, attract and retain a workforce that lives our guiding principles as part of their DNA and implement initiatives that enable us to be a thriving and trusted brand, improving lives through therapy excellence.

We have been significantly involved in advocacy efforts locally and nationally to help people who make decisions about funding for people with disability understand the benefits of therapy, both to the individual and their family, but also to the community and the economy. Our CEO Alison Kelly provides a credible, evidence-based argument whenever possible about the impact of individual agency and increasing functional independence.

On behalf of my Board colleagues, I would like to thank you for your continued support of Therapy Focus, whether as a member of our team, a customer or a supporter on the sidelines.

We are proud of the work that we do, and what we stand for, and look forward to being on the journey together.

Our Guiding

Principles

Stronger together

We listen, share and collaborate. By working together and combining our diverse knowledge, skills and experiences, we can achieve the extraordinary.

Make today count

We view every day as an opportunity to make our mark and have an impact. We are intentional with our time and prioritise the things that really matter.

Keep it simple

We strive to make things manageable and uncomplicated, keeping tasks and interactions as simple as possible for all involved.

Be courageous

We meet challenges with innovation, questioning the status quo and thinking outside the box. We are prepared to have difficult conversations and know that growth happens outside the comfort zone.

Make it personal

We care for our customers and colleagues, forming connections and taking personal responsibility for the contributions we make every day.

Be exceptional

We push the boundaries but never compromise our standards. We champion continuous improvement in all that we do, and conduct ourselves with integrity.

“The destination is typically an outcome that is important to the individual, and often, it is the road we travel together where great things happen...”
